Middle school can feel like a whole new world — new friends, new teachers, and a lot of unknowns. That’s where Metamorphosis steps in. Each summer, the Evesham Education Foundation proudly supports this four-week program designed to help students entering sixth and seventh grade build confidence, strengthen connections, and discover their voice before the new school year begins.

A Safe Space to Grow

Guided by dedicated counselors, teachers, and peer mentors, Metamorphosis uses art, music, drama, and creative team-building to help students navigate one of life’s biggest transitions.

“Through thoughtfully designed team-building and cooperative activities, students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones in a welcoming and supportive environment,” shared JC, District School Psychologist.

“This program is an investment in the hearts and futures of our young people in Evesham Township.”

This summer, on the program’s final day, the cafeteria buzzed with laughter as students gathered for a Jeopardy!-style trivia game created by the counselors. The categories — Harry Potter, Disney Quotes, Summer Facts, and Riddles — reflected the students’ own interests. It was a perfect snapshot of what Metamorphosis represents: learning, teamwork, and joy in one shared space.

Confidence, Connection, and Community

For many students, this program is more than preparation for middle school — it’s a transformation.

“Metamorphosis helps students build peer connections, improve communication, and boost self-esteem,” explained LM, District Middle School Counselor.

“Our goal is to help incoming sixth graders feel at ease and comfortable as they embark on their middle school journey. Our seventh-grade mentors return each year to serve as role models and develop leadership skills of their own.”

A Parent’s Perspective

“My son had a wonderful experience in the program. He was excited each and every day to go and so happy to tell me about it when I picked him up. He has struggled socially, and I wasn’t sure how this would go for him — but it exceeded my expectations.”

What Makes Metamorphosis Special

Transforming Transitions

Metamorphosis isn’t just about easing anxiety — it’s about empowering students to begin middle school with confidence, curiosity, and connection.

“In just four weeks, Metamorphosis empowers students to walk into middle school with confidence, connection, and a sense of excitement,” added JC.

A Message from Our President

“This summer, I had the privilege of visiting the Metamorphosis program, one of the many initiatives proudly supported by the Evesham Education Foundation. Walking into the cafeteria on the final day, I was greeted by the joyful energy of students engaged in a lively Jeopardy!-style trivia game. The categories — Harry Potter, Disney Quotes, Summer Facts, and Riddles — were not only fun but a reflection of the students’ personalities and interests. It was a moment that perfectly captured the spirit of Metamorphosis: learning through laughter, teamwork, and creativity.

What struck me most was the transformation I witnessed — students stepping out of their shells, connecting with peers, and growing in confidence. The program’s thoughtful blend of art, music, drama, and mentorship creates a safe and supportive space for middle schoolers to explore who they are and who they’re becoming.

Seeing the impact firsthand reminded me why we do what we do. Metamorphosis is more than a summer program — it’s a foundation for future success, and a testament to the power of community-driven education.

On behalf of the EEF, thank you to the dedicated staff, mentors, and families who make this possible. Together, we are helping our students begin their middle school journey with confidence, curiosity, and connection.”
